Looking back at our 1st unit which was self awareness and self esteem, it brings me back to my old days where I never feel confident about myself. I believe that I wasn’t able to accomplish any goals that I set and that I will never taste success. It then leads to my poor grades. Getting scolding from parents and endless warnings from teacher to start bucking up doesn’t help. In fact, it made me feel worst and I felt so useless that no one has faith in me. I was afraid that I would plunge into depression so I seek help from a student counselor in school. I guess it was a blessing in disguise. He told me there’s nothing much he could help, accept to help me to start believing in myself. He told me the first step to achieve this was to set up my goals and believing in myself that I was going to achieve the goals that I’ve set. It was amazing how those simple steps leads me to who I am now. I become more confident of myself. The falls I faced in life doesn’t pull me down; instead it helps me to be a stronger person, being able to face more challenges ahead of me.
I strongly believe that time management is very important. Based on unit 2 of LMS, we often believe that 24 hours doesn’t seem to be enough for us to complete tasks that we are suppose to do. This then leads to this phrase which we often hear, be it from people around you like your friends or coming from you yourself, “too many things to do, too little time”. One main factor that leads to time constraint is procrastination. Often we know we have to complete certain projects or homework, our brain will divert our focus to somewhere else such as watching TV or just browsing the net. Therefore, time management has become essential in every one of us. Without time management, even having 48hrs per day won’t be enough. We must get our priorities right first in order to achieve the tasks/goals we plan to achieve.
Be it discussions or just casual talks between you or your friends, it will come to your mind how communication has become a very powerful tool in life. Without communication, friendship will not even exist in the first place. In time of conflicts or misunderstanding, you will realized that without communication, nothing can be resolved. It is important for you to listen to other before you want others to listen to you. The way you communicate with others is also important. Often, the way you speak and how to speak reflects your personality and people will begin to judge you. Through unit 3 of LMS, I believe everyone will be able to learn communication skills. It will not just be a lesson learn during LMS. It can be lesson that can last you a lifetime too.
Managing anger, fear and conflict interlink to one another as it involves emotional pain. Looking at Albert Ellis’s theory, rational therapy, I believe a person’s personal philosophy contains beliefs that lead to his own emotional pain. Based on my experience, I often fear of taking exams as I believe that I will fail. It is my belief that I brought about fear in me. In order to manage your feelings, you must be able to be in control of yourself. No one is in control of you except yourself.
Lastly, let’s touch on the word success. Different people have their own definition of success. To me, success is to achieve the happiness in life and the goals of your life. No one can decide for me what or how my success is going to be. & I believe that this success can only be achieve if you have passion in wanting to achieve it. No use saying what you want, but if you didn’t put your heart and soul into it, nothing is achievable and you will never taste success.
